Asus today launched the much-awaited Zenfone 2 lineup in India, and it will be available in four variants starting from Rs 12,999. The company claims that Zenfone 2 series is set to disrupt the budget and mid-segment Android market by offering high-end specs at affordable price points. The Zenfone 2 (ZE550ML) will face some tough competition from the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and the Yu Yureka. We put them in a specifications and features comparison to see how they fare. Among the three, the Zenfone 2 is the most expensive with a price tag of Rs 12,999 and will be made available on Flipkart sans any flash sale. The Redmi Note 4G is priced at Rs 9,999 and is not only available across multiple e-commerce sites, but is also retailing in the traditional brick and mortar stores. Yu Yureka is the cheapest of the lot at Rs 8,999 and retails only on Amazon India via flash sales.
Zenfone 2 is the thickest at 10.9mm followed by the Redmi Note 4G at 9.5mm and the Yu Yureka is only 8.8mm thick. Talking about weight, the Redmi Note 4G is the heaviest at 185 grams, while the Zenfone 2 ZE550ML follows at 170gms and the Yu Yureka weighs at just 155gms.
The Redmi Note 4G, Yu Yureka and the Zenfone 2 come with an identical 5.5-inch 720p display that offers pixel density of 267ppi. All the three smartphones don Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
The similarity continues on the camera front as well. All the three smartphones are equipped with a 13-megapixel primary snapper and a 5-megapixel secondary snapper. Asus also launched Zenflash and Lolliflash accessories with the Zenfone 2 to further elevate the quality of pictures. While, the Zenflash gives you DSLR like photos, the Lolliflash makes your selfies look much prettier with its dual color flash.
Processor and RAM
The Zenfone 2 is equipped with Intel s quad-core Atom Z3560 chipset clocked at 1.8GHz, whilst Redmi Note 4G comes with the quad-core Snapdragon 400 clocked at 1.6GHz. Yu Yureka in comparison is powered by an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 clocked at 1.7GHz. All the three smartphones are paired with a 2G RAM.
Asus smartphone offers 16GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot. In comparison, Yu Yureka also offers 16GB onboard memory, but the expandable microSD slot supports storage up to 32GB.The Redmi Note 4G falls short in this department as it offers only 8GB of onboard storage, but it supports up to 64GB of memory card.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G has the largest battery pack at 3,100mAh, while the Zenfone 2 trails closely with a 3,000mAh battery, while the Yu Yureka settles with a smaller 2,500mAh battery pack.
The Zenfone 2 will host the company’s ZenUI on top of the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop whereas the Redmi Note 4G still runs on Android KitKat. Yu Yureka runs on Cyanogen OS 11 based on Android KitKat but has been updated with CM OS 12 based on Android Lollipop.
While the Zenfone 2 ZE550ML and the Yu Yureka have dual-SIM support, the Redmi Note 4G has only got a single-SIM slot. All the three smartphones are LTE capable.
The three smartphones are quite closely matched in terms of the specifications and features. But the differentiating factor is price tag. Where the Zenfone 2 is priced at Rs 12,999, the Redmi Note 4G is priced at Rs 9,999, and the Yu Yureka is priced even lower at Rs 8,999.
