Asus is known for causing the biggest confusion with its smartphone names. Asus has a habit of giving smartphones the same name and the point of difference would be the model numbers. Asus might have been caught in its own confusion according to its recent post on the company’s official forum. The post on Asus’ official forum announces a new update for the ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL) which brings Android 7.1.1 Nougat to the smartphone. The release notes however mentions the model name as ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL).
The Asus ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL) according to the post, will receive the build update numbered 14.0200.1704.119. The release date mentions that this build update will bring Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. The update rolls out today but Asus says that it will take about a week for the system to complete the autopush. If users do not receive the new update, they can update it manually by going to Settings -> About -> System Update. There is no mention however, on what changes the smartphone would be receiving with the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update.
This could be an error made by Asus and it would make more sense for the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL) to receive the Android 7.1.1 update since the smartphone received the Android 7.0 Nougat update in March. Moreover, the Asus ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL) currently runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. To make things clearer, the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL) is not available in India.
