Taiwanese smartphone maker Asus has started roll out of Android 8.0 Oreo update for the ZenFone 3 Zoom smartphone. The release of the new version of Oreo comes just days after the release of the update for company’s ZenFone 3 Deluxe smartphone with model number ZS570KL. This should come as a welcome sign especially for a brand like Asus which does not have a proven track record with release of new software. Asus had initially announced that the development of Oreo update for the ZenFone 3 series has been postponed to June. It now seems that the development was pushed ahead as the update with version number V22.214.171.124 for the ZenFone 3 Zoom with model number ZE553KL is already public. The update brings ZenFone 3 Zoom to newer version of Android with Oreo serving as the core. Also Read - Best laptops under Rs 50,000 for work or studies in India in September 2021
One of the major advancements being that Asus has removed a number of pre-installed apps which are dismissed as bloatware by most users. The apps removed from this release include Minimove, PhotoCollage and Do It Later. The changelog also notes that the gesture previously used to bring up the “All Apps Menu” has been tweaked to “swipe up.” And, Asus also warns users that the new version of Android might take up a bit more space now.
As always, the rollout of Oreo update for ZenFone 3 Zoom is taking place in a staged manner and if you own a ZenFone 3 Zoom and can’t see the update then just don’t worry. It will reach you device in the next few days and in the meantime, you can manually check for update by heading to Settings > System > System Update.
To recall, the ZenFone 3 Zoom was released in February last year as Asus’ take on smartphones with support for optical zoom. The device features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and is powered by the Snapdragpn 625 chipset. It comes with 4GB RAM and option for either 32GB or 64GB or 128GB storage.
