Just a few days back an Asus smartphone with model number Z01HDA was spotted on the Chinese regulator s database TENAA. The smartphone is dubbed Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom, according to a Bluetooth SIG listing. The Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom bearing the same model number has now been certified by the FCC in the US. The FCC certification reveals that the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom supports LTE bands compatible fully with AT&T s network and partially compatible with T-Mobile s network. The Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom is believed to be the successor of the Asus Zenfone Zoom smartphone, which was launched in India earlier this year. Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom specifications
Going by the recent TENAA listing, the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom will feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1920x 1080 pixels) display. Under the hood, Qualcomm s Snapdragon 652 processor clocked at 2.0GHz is expected to run. The smartphone is said to be available in three variants of RAM and storage as well. These variants include 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB of RAM with internal storage of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB respectively.
The listed image on TENAA reveals the smartphone has a dual camera setup on the rear end. Whereas the spec sheet on TENAA says that the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom sports a 16-megapixel camera. Some reports suggest that the dual camera setup on the smartphone will be a pair of 12.2-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors. As for the front-facing camera, it will likely sport a 13-megapixel selfie snapper.
For power, the smartphone is expected to use a massive 4,850mAh battery. On the software front, the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. Additionally, the smartphone measures 154.3 77 7.99mm and weighing in at 170 grams. The smartphone will be available in three color options of navy black, new crafts silver and luxury gold.
Since the smartphone is expected to be the successor to the Asus Zenfone Zoom, it is likely that dual cameras will come with the 3x optical zoom feature. Asus had unveiled the camera-centric Asus Zenfone Zoom back in January last year, but launched the smartphone in January this year, in India. The main highlight of the smartphone is its 13-megapixel rear camera that features SmartFSI sensor comprising of 10 lenses four aspherical glasses, four glass lenses and two prism lenses, along with 3x optical zoom. The rear camera also comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), laser auto-focus, and has a dedicated camera button the edge of the smartphone. While the launch and availability details of the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom are still unknown, the company has sent out media invites for an event at the CES 2017, which will take place on January 4. Asus hasn t revealed which device it would be showcasing but there are speculations that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon processor. Adding to this, few reports suggest that Asus might launch a new smartphone running Qualcomm s latest 835 processor and is likely to be a high-end one. Assuming that the Asus Z01HDA has been spotted online right before the launch, we can expect Asus to showcase this smartphone at the upcoming CES 2017 as well.
