Asus launched two smartphones at CES 2017 earlier this year — Zenfone 3 Zoom and Zenfone AR. The Zenfone 3 Zoom features iPhone 7 Plus-like dual cameras, while the Zenfone AR, on the other hand, is the second Google Tango-enabled smartphone. Asus has all but confirmed that both smartphones will launch in India within two months.
In an interview with India Today, Dinesh Sharma, director of Mobile Product Centre for Asus revealed the launch information, and also added that both the devices are ready for commercial use in India. Although a two-month timeframe was assured, Sharma said that both the smartphones will possibly not launch together. He also said that there is no surety of which smartphone will be launched first. Not surprisingly, details about pricing were also not shared.
The Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom went on sale in the US earlier this month for a price of $329 (approximately Rs 21,300). The Zenfone AR is also slated to go on sale in the US this summer, but its price is still unknown. Considering the Zenfone AR’s hardware and also its Daydream compatibility, the smartphone will possibly sit at the premium segment. Lenovo PHAB2 Pro, the first Google Tango-powered smartphone, launched in India this year at Rs 29,990. But its specifications are lower than that of the ZenFone AR’s.
