As the launch date for the next Asus Zenfone 4 series smartphone is inching closer, rumors and leaks about the upcoming device are pouring in at a faster pace. Recently, rumors about a new Zenfone 4 series smartphones launching on August 17 surfaced online. Now, what appear to be live images of one of the smartphones from the series have surfaced on an Italian website, giving a peek into its key details.
Italian website DDay.it posted live images of the Zenfone 4 Pro, which is likely to be the next smartphone from the new Asus Zenfone 4 series. Going by the images, the Zenfone 4 Pro could come with dual rear cameras with support for 2x optical zoom. The website claims that the smartphone has a 21-megapixel dual camera module. At the moment, there is no clarity on whether there will be two sensors with the same megapixel count or if the specification is just for one of the sensors.
According to the website, the smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Famous leakster, Ronald Quandt has also put up a post on Twitter saying the Zenfone 4 Pro was officially demonstrated at a press event in Italy. Qualcomm and ASUS partnered to demonstrate 1 Gigabit LTE at the Italian press event, where they reportedly showed off the capability using the Snapdragon 835 SoC-powered Zenfone 4 Pro. The smartphone is said to be equipped with Snapdragon LTE X16 modem that is capable of delivering 1 Gbps LTE connectivity. The Asus Zenfone 4 Pro is expected to come with a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with quad HD resolution. Based on the leaked image, the smartphone will feature a home button that will be embedded with a fingerprint sensor. On the software front, the smartphone is expected to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Interestingly, the model number for this Asus smartphone is ASUS_Z01GS and recently, another smartphone with model number ASUS_Z01GD was spotted online, suggesting there might be another variant of the Zenfone 4 Pro.
If rumors are to be believed, the Asus Zenfone 4 Pro will release in September. In the same month, the company is also expected to take the wraps off the Zenfone 4V. Speculated to be launched on September 21, the Zenfone 4V has also been detailed in past leaks. It is expected to feature a 5.5-inch display with either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 or Snapdragon 660 chipset. On the camera front, the smartphone is expected to sport a dual rear camera setup with a combination of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors which will be capable of shooting 4K videos. Up front, it is expected to feature an 8-megapixel camera.
Asus is speculated to launch as many as six smartphones under its Zenfone 4-series this year. From the series, the Zenfone 4 Max has already been announced, while the Zenfone 4 Pro, the Zenfone 4 Selfie and three different variants of the Zenfone 4 flagship are yet to be officially revealed.
