Most of the news stories today revolve around smartphones, with Asus launching its anticipated Zenfone 5Z, and a couple of Samsung and Oppo phones getting a price cut. We’ve also got some news on the upcoming Nokia X5 and the Redmi 6 and the Redmi 6A smartphones. Read ahead to know more.

Asus Zenfone 5Z goes on sale

Asus Zenfone 5Z has finally gone on sale in India and is available exclusively via Flipkart. The smartphone comes in three configurations. The base variant, which comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at Rs 29,999, while the other two variants which come with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage are priced at Rs 32,999 and Rs 36,999 respectively. As part of the launch, Flipkart is also offering a whole range of offers on the smartphone in partnership with ICICI bank and Reliance Jio.

The smartphone comes with a 6.2-inch FHD+ display and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. It’s packed with a dual-camera setup at the back consisting of a 12-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with a wide-angle lens. At the front is an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies. The device is powered by a 3,300mAh battery with fast charging, and runs on Android Oreo-based ZenUI.

Oppo F7 gets a price cut of Rs 3,000

Launched back in March, the Oppo F7 is now getting a price cut of Rs 3,000. This brings down the price of the base variant (4GB RAM + 64GB storage) and the high-end variant (6GB RAM + 128GB storage) to Rs 19,990 and Rs 23,990 respectively. The phone is available on Amazon and Flipkart. Its key highlight is the 25-megapixel front camera, which comes with AI capabilities. The smartphone also comes with a 6.23-inch Full HD+ display and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core SoC.

Samsung Galaxy J6 64GB variant now available for Rs 15,990

The higher-end variant of the Galaxy J6, which comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage is getting a price cut of Rs 500, bringing down its price tag to Rs 15,990. Users with an ICICI Bank debit and credit card can further get a discount of Rs 1,500 on the smartphone. Samsung is also offering a one-time screen replacement along with the smartphone for free.

In terms of specifications, the phone comes with a 5.6-inch HD+ (1480×720 pixels) display and runs on the Exynos 7870 SoC. It comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 8-megapixel front camera with LED flash. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and Android 8.0 Oreo OS with Samsung Experience UI on top.

Xiaomi Redmi 6, Redmi 6A to launch in September

While both smartphones have already launched in China, a new report from 91Mobiles suggests that the company is planning to get them to India as well. However, a specific date isn’t mentioned. Both smartphones come with 5.4-inch 18:9 displays, but the Redmi 6 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core SoC chipset, while the Redmi 6A features a MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core SoC.

Considering their Chinese pricing, the Redmi 6A could be valued in India approximately around Rs 6,300 (RMB 599). While the two variants of the Redmi 6 could be priced at Rs 8,500 (RMB 799) for the 32GB+3GB variant and Rs 10,500 (RMB 999) for the 64GB+4GB RAM.

Nokia X5 launch confirmed for July 11

Nokia officially confirmed the launch of Nokia X5 by putting up an official invite on its official Weibo account. While initial reports suggested the device to be called Nokia 5.1, there is a good change that HMD global will unveil the device as Nokia X5 (2018). Based on previous reports the device is said to come with either a Snapdragon 600-series SoC or an Helio P60 SoC. It is also said to feature a 5.86-inch HD+ with a dual-camera setup sporting a 13-megapixel primary and a 5-megapixel secondary camera.

The device is expected to come in two storage variants of 32GB and 64GB, both of which are tipped to be priced at RMB 799 (approximately Rs 8,289) and RMB 999 (approximately Rs 10,364) respectively.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ to come with dual-selfie cameras

According to a report from The Bell, the Samsung Galaxy S10+ is said to feature a dual camera setup at the front. While the resolution isn’t mentioned, the secondary camera is either expected to feature a wide-angle lens or depth measurement capabilities. The Galaxy S10+ is also touted to feature a triple camera setup at the back.

Airtel revises Rs 499 postpaid plan to offer unlimited calling and 75GB of data

To compete better with Vodafone’s revised RED postpaid plans, Airtel has also revised its 499 plan to offer nearly double the amount of data for the same price. Users get 75GB data, up from 40GB. Beyond that, the plan also offers unlimited local and STD calls without FUP, unlimited national roaming, and 100 free SMS daily. As a part of the package users also get Amazon Prime subscription for one-year, Airtel TV access, Wynk Music access and handset protection plan.
