After unveiling the smartphone at MWC 2018 earlier this year in February, Taiwanese smartphone maker, Asus, has now launched the flagship Zenfone 5Z in India. One of the key highlights of the smartphone is its front and back glass design, dual-rear cameras with AI screen detection, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core SoC under the hood.

In terms of specifications, the Zenfone 5z sports a 6.2-inch full HD+ edge-to-edge notched screen. It runs at a resolution of 1080×2246 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 19:9. As mentioned above, the smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core chipset with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB internal storage. There is also a hybrid slot that lets you use two SIM cards or one SIM and one microSD card for expandable storage.
For shutterbugs, the smartphone comes with a dual-camera setup at the back. This includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor with large 1.4-micron pixels, and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor that allows 120-degree wide-angle shooting and portrait mode shots. Asus has also added AI-chops where the camera is capable of scene detection to automatically tune the photos you capture.
The rest of the features include an 8-megapixel selfie camera, and a 3,300mAh battery with fast charging. On the software front, the device runs Android Oreo-based ZenUI. For biometric authentication, the smartphone comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back, and face unlock feature as well.
In terms of connectivity, you get Bluetooth, 4G LTE with VoLTE, dual SIM card slots, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS and USB Type-C port. At its price point, the Zenfone 5Z will compete with the likes of Honor 10 and the highly popular OnePlus 6. In fact, the Zenfone 5Z is quite cheaper than the OnePlus 6, which gives Asus some advantage.
