The Asus Zenfone 6 might still be a long time away, but there’s absolutely no doubt that the engineers over at Asus are hard at work developing it. The successor to the Asus Zenfone 5Z that was launched this year, the Asus Zenfone 6 will likely come some time early next year. The prototypes show various design ideas, which include a smaller display cutout for the front camera, along with various positions for the camera itself, Gizmochina reports. In one image, the camera is shown to be completely surrounded by the display, while others show display cutouts similar to what we saw on the Essential PH-1. Of course, the final product will likely be quite different, given that the practicalities of these designs have to be considered before adopting a concept. However, considering that the triple-camera setup is gaining prominence, it’s likely that it will be adopted in next year’s Asus Zenfone 6. For the time being though, buyers looking for a flagship Asus smartphone have the Asus Zenfone 5Z as an option. The Asus Zenfone 5z was unveiled at MWC 2018 alongside the Asus Zenfone 5 (2018), and Zenfone 5 Lite. As far as specifications are concerned, the Zenfone 5z sports a 6.2-inch full HD+ edge-to-edge screen, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM. There is also up to 256GB internal storage that will be on offer.
For photography, Asus has opted for a dual-camera setup at the back. This includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor with large 1.4-micron pixels, and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor that allows 120-degree wide-angle shooting and portrait mode shots. The Asus Zenfone 5Z is priced from Rs 29,999 with the base variant sporting 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
