For its price, the smartphone offers dual rear cameras, stock Android OS, full screen display and a massive 5,000mAh battery. On paper, it is a value for money offering. Now, Asus is expanding its portfolio and targeting the market segment under Rs 10,000 bracket. Today, the company launched an entry-level Android smartphone, the Zenfone Lite L1, and the Zenfone Max M1 which is placed in the affordable category. The Asus Zenfone Max M1 is priced at Rs 7,499 and it will take on the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Honor 7A and Realme 2 to name a few. The Zenfone Max Pro M1, on the other hand, starts at Rs 10,999, and goes all the way up to Rs 14,999. It competes with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi A2, Realme 2 Pro, Moto G6 and Honor 8X to name a few. Chipset, RAM and storage
The Zenfone Max M1 is powered by a Snapdragon 430 SoC with an octa-core CPU paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, whereas the Pro variant comes with Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage for the base model. Asus also has two more variants one featuring 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, and the other with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. Both smartphones come with a microSD card slot for further storage expansion.
In line with the latest trends in the industry, both smartphones come with full screen displays with 18:9 aspect ratio, and they don t feature any notch. The Zenfone Max M1 comes with a compact 5.45-inch display with HD+ resolution, whereas the Pro variant comes with a 5.99-inch panel and full HD+ resolution.
In the photography department, the Zenfone Max M1 comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and an 8-megapixel front camera. The Zenfone Max Pro M1, on the other hand, comes with a dual camera setup at the back which includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor supplemented with a 5-megapixel depth sensor for portrait mode. Up front you get the same 8-megapixel snapper for selfies and video calling.
Battery, connectivity and OS
To keep things ticking, Asus has equipped the Zenfone Max M1 with a 4,000mAh battery, whereas the larger Pro variant comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery. Running on stock Android Oreo (Android One), connectivity options on the smartphone include dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth, 4G with VoLTE, GPS and Wi-Fi.
