Asus Zenfone Max M2, Zenfone Max Pro M2 launched in India: Price, specifications, features

The new Asus smartphones bring in key upgrades over their predecessors that were launched earlier this year.

Asus entered into a partnership with Flipkart earlier this year, and launched the Zenfone Max Pro M1 smartphone which featured a 5,000mAh battery, a large display, stock Android OS and rear dual cameras. Now, roughly eight months later, Asus has launched its successor in India, the Zenfone Max Pro M2.

The Taiwan-based company also launched the Zenfone Max M2, which is a successor to the Zenfone Max M1 that was launched a couple of months ago. The new smartphones bring in key upgrades over their predecessors, which include improved design, powerful chipset, improved cameras, and a notched display among others.

Asus Zenfone Max M2, Max Pro M2 price in India, availability

The Zenfone Max M2 is offered in two storage variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage priced at Rs 9,999, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage priced at Rs 11,999. The Zenfone Max Pro M2, on the other hand, is offered in three variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage for Rs 12,999, 4GB RAM with 64GB storage for Rs 14,999, and 6GB RAM with 64GB storage for Rs 16,999. Both the smartphones will be sold exclusively via Flipkart. The Max Pro M2 will go on sale starting December 18, whereas the Max M2 will go on sale starting December 20.

Asus Zenfone Max M2, Max Pro M2 specifications

Both the Zenfone Max M2 and Zenfone Max Pro M2 get 6.26-inch notched displays. However, there is a difference in the resolution. The Zenfone Max M2 gets an HD+ display running at 1520X720 pixels, whereas the Pro variant comes with a Full HD+ display running at 2280×1080 pixels. Both displays have an aspect ratio of 19:9.

Under the hood of the Zenfone Max Pro M2 is a Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC, which is a big upgrade over the Snapdragon 636 SoC on the Max Pro M1. The Zenfone Max M2, on the other hand, is powered by Snapdragon 632 SoC, which is also an upgrade over the Snapdragon 450 that powered the Zenfone Max M1.

The camera department also sees an upgrade. The Zenfone Max Pro M2 gets improved dual cameras at the back – a 12-megapixel primary sensor f/1.8 aperture, and a dedicated 5-megapixel depth sensor. The new chipset also enables 4K video recording capabilities. Up front, the smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel snapper with f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash.

The Zenfone Max M2 also gets dual cameras, which is an upgrade from single camera on the Max M1. The setup includes a 13-megapixel f/1.8 primary sensor along with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The camera also supports 4K video recording capabilities. Up front, is an 8-megapixel f/2.0 aperture camera sensor with LED flash.

The Zenfone Max-series is known for battery performance and both smartphones pack big batteries. While the Zenfone Max Pro M2 comes with a 5,000mAh battery, the Zenfone Max M2 comes with a 4,000mAh unit. Both smartphones come bundled with standard 10W fast chargers. With support for connectivity options like dual-SIM cars slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE, Bluetooth and GPS, both smartphones run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
