Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, the smartphone that rivals Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro, is receiving a new software update. The Taiwanese smartphone maker says the update is aimed to further enhance the overall user experience of Zenfone Max Pro M1.
The update brings key new features including VoLTE support for Vodafone, Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular in supported circles. It also updates the security patch to May 2018, which is not bad. That said, Asus could have done better by updating the smartphone to security patch for the month of June. Google’s Pixel smartphones are the only devices to have received the latest security patch.
Other changes includes enhancement for the response time of fingerprint sensor. Asus claims with the new update, the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor will unlock the device faster than before. It is improving the front camera performance as well, but there is no word on specifics as to what the improvement with this particular update. The new Zenfone Max Pro M1 has emerged as the immediate competitor to Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro, and is the first device to launch as part of a new strategic partnership with Flipkart.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 Specifications and Price
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 was launched in April, and it has seen reasonable success especially considering its price and features. It features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels, and support for taller 18:9 aspect ratio. Powering the device is Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, which is the same chipset powering Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro as well. Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes in two storage variants – 3GB RAM model with 32GB storage, and a 4GB RAM model with 64GB storage.
The Zenfone Max Pro M1 borrows a lot of design elements from premium smartphones like Apple iPhone X, including a vertically stacked dual rear camera setup. It comes with a combination of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel dual camera setup that supports bokeh mode for portraits. The front camera uses an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and dedicated LED flash for brighter selfies in low-light.
One of the key features of the Zenfone Max Pro M1 is the stock Android 8.0 Oreo experience that comes out of the box ensuring timely software update. It received a new software update soon after launch that brought support for face unlock. One of the USPs of the device is its massive 5,000mAh battery, and the smartphone is priced at Rs 10,999 for the 3GB RAM variant while the 4GB RAM variant will set you back by Rs 12,999.
