Just yesterday, Asus announced its partnership with Flipkart and launched its new smartphone in India, the Zenfone Max Pro M1. As a part of the Zenfone Max series, the Pro M1 comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery, something that has been a highlight of the series. The smartphone will closely compete with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Honor 9 Lite and Nokia 6 (2018). After pitting the smartphone with the Redmi Note 5 Pro, we have now put it against the Nokia 6 (2018). Here’s how both the smartphones compete based on their price, specifications and features.
Price and availability
The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is offered in two storage variants, with the base model priced at Rs 10,999, and the higher storage variant priced at Rs 12,999. The smartphone will go on sale starting May 3 and will be available exclusively via Flipkart. Nokia 6 (2018), on the other hand, is priced at Rs 16,999, and will be available via retail outlets across India.
Display, chipset, RAM and storage
The Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, whereas the Nokia 6 (2018) sticks to the older 16:9 aspect ratio, and comes with a 5.5-inch full HD screen.
Under the hood, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC paired with 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. A dedicated microSD card slot for further expansion is also present. The Nokia 6 (2018), on the other hand, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, which is further expandable using a microSD card, up to 256GB.

The Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with dual cameras at the back, which includes a combination of 13-megapixel sensor supplemented with a 5-megapixel depth sensor. Together, the cameras let you add DSLR-like bokeh effects to your photos. Up front is an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling. Nokia has gone with a single rear camera of 16-megapixel resolution with Carl ZEISS optics. Up front, you get an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Battery, software and connectivity
As mentioned earlier, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes with a 5,000mAh battery, whereas the Nokia 6 (2018) comes with a 3,000mAh battery. Connectivity options on both devices include dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE with VoLTE. On the software front, both smartphones run Android Oreo out-of-the-box.
