Taiwanese manufacturer Asus will soon enter the Indian smartphone market with its ZenFone range of smartphones, EconomicTimes reports. The smartphones that are likely to be launched in India are the ones that were unveiled at the CES earlier this year. Asus announced three ZenFone smartphones differentiated by their screen sizes. The smallest was the ZenFone 4, which featured a 4-inch WVGA TFT display, Intel s Atom Z2520 processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage that can be extended with a microSD card slot. The ZenFone 5 features a 720p display, 2GHz Intel s Atom Z2580 processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory and a 2,050mAh battery. The device includes an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Asus has also introduced what it calls a PixelMaster camera, which registers up to 400 percent brighter photos and videos in low-light conditions by reducing the resolution.
Lastly, the ZenFone 6 also features a 720p display, the same 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 processor, and 8GB and 16GB variants with 1GB and 2GB of RAM respectively. This device has a 13-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera and the PixelMaster camera feature.
All the three phones run on Android 4.3, with Asus promising KitKat update soon. The operating system is wrapped under Asus s own ZenUI skin which borrows elements from iOS 7 and Windows Phone 8. These devices are priced between $99 and $199 and according to ET, will be launched in India with a price tag in the sub-Rs 25,000 region.
The publication further claims that Asus may also announce the new MemoPad and FonePad at the same event on July 9.
