Asus has launched a new smartphone in the US in its ZenFone series. Called ZenFone V, it is priced at $384 (approximately Rs 25,100), and is currently available exclusively on Verizon. Alternatively, you can opt for a 24 month EMI scheme and purchase the smartphone at $16 (approximately Rs 1,100) per month. Design wise, the smartphone flaunts a glass body in a Sapphire Black color. The ZenFone V has oleophobic coating making it fingerprint and smudge-resistant. The ZenFone V features Asus’ ZenMotion which allows you to use gestures on the smartphone. You can double tap to wake the screen or lock the smartphone. You can also draw gestures to launch apps. For example, to launch the camera app you can simply draw an upper case C on the lock screen. Similarly, you can draw a lower case e to launch the e-mail app.

The Asus ZenFone V features a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) AMOLED display with a 2.5D curved glass and Gorilla Glass on top. Under the hood of the smartphone, it runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked at 2.15GHz paired with Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. In the photography department, the ZenFone V sports a 23-megapixel rear camera of f/2.0 aperture (Sony IMX 318 sensor). The rear camera is equipped with 4K video capabilities, dual-tone flash, optical image stabilization (OIS), electronic image stabilization (EIS), and in-house TriTech autofocus. The smartphone is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery. On the software front, the ZenFone V runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with ZenUI 3.0 layered on top. Its connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi and USB Type-C port. It also features a fingerprint sensor which is embedded on the Home button.
