Apart from the new Zenfone Selfie and insane ZenPads, Asus today also unveiled the second generation of its smartwatch, the ZenWatch 2 at its Computex press conference. Even though the ZenWatch never made it to India, despite multiple promises by the company, the ZenWatch 2 looks interesting with its Apple Watch-like crown and multiple size choices. Like its predecessor, the ZenWatch 2 also runs on Android Wear, but what sets it apart is that it comes in two sizes 49mm with 22mm strap, and 45mm with a thinner 18mm strap. This is the first time an Android Wear smartwatch is offering a choice of sizes, and is something that seems inspired by the Apple Watch. Another feature that sets it apart from its predecessor is a crown on the right side. While it too seems to have been inspired by the digital crown on Apple s smartwatch, Asus couldn’t possibly find a function for it and decided to use it as a power button.
Asus is offering as many as 18 different band combinations of materials and colors including rubber, leather as well as stainless steel. The smartwatch flaunts an AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass 3. On the software front, the ZenWatch 2 runs on the latest version of Android Wear.
The company hasn t revealed a lot of details, instead opting for a big reveal at IFA in Berlin later this year.
