The comparison has to start with Reliance Jio, considering it is the operator that has shaken up the telecom landscape in India. Jio has a plan priced at Rs 49 with a validity of 28 days. Users get unlimited calls, 1GB 4G data, 50 SMS, and complimentary access to Jio suite of apps. This plan though is restricted to Reliance JioPhone users. Idea Cellular and Vodafone merger has got the DoT approval, and ahead of the merger, Vodafone has gone full aggressive with its plans. The telco recently unveiled Rs 47 prepaid plan that comes with a validity of 28 days, and offers 50 free SMS, and 500MB 3G/4G data. The plan also includes 7,500 seconds of calling, which is 125 minutes, and it is valid for all local, STD and roaming calls.
Airtel, on the other hand, also has a plan priced at Rs 47 that comes with same benefits as the Vodafone plan. Subscribers get 28 days validity, 125 minutes of calling, and 50 SMS. The plan also includes 500MB 3G/4G data.
Lastly, BSNL has launched an affordable prepaid plan priced at Rs 19. It is an STV that is available in Chennai and Tamil Nadu circles only, and the pack will expire on October 11. As for the benefits, the plan is valid for 54 days from the day of activation. However, unlike competitors that are offering free data, SMS and calling, BSNL s plan is basically a rate cutter where outgoing on-net calls to BSNL numbers will be priced at 15 paise per minute, and off-net calls to other networks will be priced at 35 paise per minute.
