Mondays are usually not too exciting, however, today turned out to be an eventful day in the tech world with a lot happening; from OnePlus 5 successor showing up in renders, to Microsoft officially declaring Windows Phone dead. Here’s a quick look at the top stories of the day.

There’s still no official word on whether OnePlus will repeat its OnePlus 3 exercise with the current OnePlus 5 model and introduce its successor in less than a year of launch. However, renders of the purported OnePlus 5T have been spotted, suggesting an imminent launch. Similar to the OnePlus 3T, the rumored OnePlus 5T is unlikely to bring many upgrades under the hood, but if reports are to be believed, the successor will boast an edge-to-edge display, similar to the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, which brings us to the next important news of the day.

Xiaomi is all set to launch the Mi MIX 2 smartphone in India tomorrow. Ahead of the launch, Flipkart officially announced that the upcoming smartphone will be sold exclusively on its portal. Mi MIX 2 is the successor to the original Mi MIX which was never launched in India. With an edge-to-edge display, the Mi MIX 2 is touted to be the most expensive smartphone by the company to be sold in India.

In the aggressive Android vs iOS battleground, Microsoft‘s Windows Phone OS has lost ground. Microsoft has finally admitted that it will no longer develop new features or hardware for Windows 10 mobiles. Joe Belfiore, Corporate Vice President in the Operating Systems Group at Microsoft, announced this in a series of tweets late Sunday. He further said that Windows operating system will only help with bug fixes and security updates for existing users. On the sidelines of this announcement, rumors arose about the company shutting down its Surface hardware line. However, these rumors spread owing to a confusion after The Register did an opinion-based story on Microsoft’s current market performance.

Speaking of the dead, BlackBerry’s latest Android-powered all-touchscreen smartphone, BlackBerry Motion, launched today. Available only in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the moment, BlackBerry Motion features a massive 4,000mAh battery and seems similar to the previously launched BlackBerry KEYone, but without a physical keyboard. It features a 5.5-inch full HD LCD display, and is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

Assigned the task of resurrecting the Nokia brand globally, HMD Global announced that it had sold 1 million units of the Android-powered smartphones since its revival earlier this year. The company boasts a total of four Nokia-branded Android smartphones. These include the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, and the recently launched Nokia 8. The installation numbers of Nokia Mobile Support application on Google Play Store suggest that the installation numbers are over one million and less than five million.
