OnePlus 5T up for pre-order
Earlier today, reports suggested that the OnePlus 5T went up for pre-orders on Oppo Mart, not just revealing its price but also unveiling its specifications. As per the listing, the OnePlus 5T will be priced at $549 (Rs 35,700 approximately). It will feature a 6-inch Optic AMOLED FHD+ display with a resolution of (1080 x 2160 pixels), and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC. The smartphone will be available in two variants- 64GB paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB paired with 8GB RAM. It includes a 3,450mAh battery that is equipped with 5V/4A Dash Charging. The camera of the phone will come with a combination of a 20-megapixel f/1.7 aperture and 16-megapixel f/2.6 aperture. Up front, will be a 16-megapixel selfie camera. While the benchmark leak suggests that the smartphone will run Android Oreo out-of-the-box Oppo Mart listing leak suggest Android Nougat OS out-of-the-box. The OnePlus 5T is said to come with marginal improvement over its predecessor.
Bad Rabbit ransomware
A major ransomware attack is hitting computers in Russia and Ukraine, something that is said to be similar to the NotPetya outbreak that caused loss of billions of pounds in June. Security researchers are comparing the Bad Rabbit ransomware to WannaCry, which disabled 300,000 computers earlier this year. Victims of the Bad Rabbit ransomware include the Kiev Metro and Odessa International Airport in Ukraine, as well as Russian news agency Interfax and other media organisations. A message will pop up on users’ screens telling them their computer had been locked and they must pay 280 in Bitcoin to regain access.

Google has announced various introductory offers on its recently launched Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. Customers who wish to buy the smartphones have to pre-order it starting tomorrow. Google is offering free Sennheiser headset, cashback of Rs 8,000 on EMI transactions via HDFC credit card and no-cost EMIs starting from Rs 3,389 per month. You can also get 120GB of additional data for 6 months if you are an Airtel customer. Reliance Jio users can get total benefits of Rs 14,999, which will include 1 year of unlimited voice, data, SMS and Jio apps worth Rs 9,999. You can also get Rs 5,000 off on exchange of old phone. The offers can be availed across Flipkart and offline retail partners like Reliance Digital, and Croma. The Pixel 2 will go on sale in India starting November 1 while the Pixel 2 XL will go on sale starting November 15.
RCom to shut down its wireless business
After suffering quarterly losses, Reliance Communications (RCom) is reportedly going to shut down major parts of its wireless operations next month. The company said that the decisions were made citing creative destruction by Reliance Jio. RCom has notified its employees that their last date of employment will be November 30. According to the company officials, ILD voice, consumer voice and 4G dongle post-paid will be migrated to the enterprise as long as it is profitable.
Huawei ships more than 100 million phones
Huawei today announced that it has managed to ship over 100 million smartphones in the first three quarters of 2017. This translates to a year-over-year increase of 19 percent. This means that there are high chances that the company might surpass the 140 million units it shipped in 2016. According to the Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business group, this exponential growth has managed to increase the company’s operating revenues by more than 30 percent from January to September. Apart from that, the company also announced that its global retail partner count has now reached 42,300.
Xiaomi sells 4 million units during Diwali
Xiaomi has announced that it has sold more than 4 million smartphones in a month. The 4 million smartphones were sold during the Diwali festive sale which began on September 20 with Flipkart s Big Billion Day and Amazon s Great India Sale. The sale lasted till October 19. The company also announced that on mi.com, Xiaomi sold more than 1 million units during the sale period.
