Bharti Airtel has been fiercely competing with Reliance Jio in the mobile telephony segment and now the action seems to be shifting to the home broadband segment. India’s leading telecom player has started offering 20 percent discount to its broadband customers opting for yearly plans. The move can be seen as an effort to retain customers ahead of the imminent launch of its Reliance JioFiber service later this year.
In order to combat JioFiber‘s launch, Bharti Airtel is also offering 15 percent discount to those opting for 6 months plan on its broadband service. The new offer is valid in all cities where Airtel has its operations and the discount is valid only for 6-month and annual broadband plans. Under this offer, Airtel’s broadband subscribers who opt for Rs 1,099 tariff plan for six months will get the plan for Rs 933 instead.
For those opting for the annual plan, the price is discounted further to Rs 875. At that price, Airtel is offering the annual plan at discounted price of Rs 10,500 while the six month subscription will be available for Rs 5,600. With Rs 1,099 broadband plan, Airtel is offering unlimited local and STD calls. It also offers 100GB broadband data with speed up to 100Mbps. Broadband users get bonus data of 1000GB valid till October 31, 2018 and free subscription to Amazon Prime Video.
Airtel is also offering data rollover benefit with its broadband subscription. Similarly, Bharti Airtel is discounting the Rs 849 plan to Rs 679 for annual plan and Rs 716 for six month plan. With this plan, customers get unlimited local and STD calls and 55GB broadband data with speed up to 40Mbps. There is also bonus data of 750GB that will be valid till October 31, 2018, data rollover benefit and free subscription to Amazon Prime Video.
The top of the line plan priced at Rs 2,199 is now discounted to Rs 1,758 for those taking annual subscription. If you opt for a six-month subscription then you will get the same plan for Rs 1,866. With this plan, Airtel broadband users get unlimited local and STD calls, internet speed up to 300Mbps and 1200GB broadband data. There is also 1000GB bonus data valid till October 31, 2018 and add-on benefits like data roll over and Amazon Prime subscription.

Only with the Rs 699 broadband plan, Bharti Airtel is not offering benefits like data roll-over and Amazon Prime subscription. It offers unlimited local and STD calls across all the tariff plans. The discounted tariff seems like a great benefit and will likely challenge JioFiber, when the service becomes available later this year.
