In order to compete better with Vodafone, Bharti Airtel has just launched a new Rs 47 prepaid plan. Introduced for basic subscribers, the plan comes with a validity of 28 days and offers 500MB data with calling benefits of 125 minutes. Alongside that, it also carries 50 SMS benefits for the entire validity period.
Airtel s plan comes in response to Vodafone s Rs 47 prepaid plan, which carries pretty much the same benefits. Both plans have offer 500MB data at 2G/3G/4G speeds for the entire validity period of 28 days. They also have the same calling and SMS benefits. According to the TelecomTalk, the service providers are also making it an open market plan, which will give access to all of their respective subscribers.
On the other hand, Jio s most affordable plan starts at Rs 98, which is twice as much as Airtel and Vodafone. However, the plan offers 2GB of data at 4G speeds and 300 SMS for the total validity period of 28 days. Not just that, like every other Jio plan, it also offers unlimited calling. Subscribers also get the benefits of the complimentary Jio apps.

Bharti Airtel has been getting plenty of competition from Vodafone. Recently, the company was also prompted to revise some of its postpaid plans with added data benefits, to compete with the new Vodafone RED postpaid plans. Airtel increased the data limit on its Rs 1,199 plan to 120GB from 90GB. The plan also offers unlimited calling and SMS benefits. The competition only seems to be growing as Vodafone is in its final stages of its merger with Idea Cellular, overtaking Bharti Airtel to be India s biggest telecom firm by subscribers.
