In what is easily the biggest announcement at the BlackBerry Live conference today, CEO Thorsten Heins revealed that the Canadian company will finally launch its popular messaging service across other platforms. BBM will become available on Apple devices running on iOS 6 and Android devices for free. BBM for Android and iOS will initially only offer messaging and group chat features, but Heins has promised that with subsequent updates, they will release rest of the features like BBM voice, BBM channels, screen sharing and video capabilities.
Currently there is no word on an exact launch date and Heins was quite vague when he said the messaging service will be made available on other platforms this summer.
