Though BlackBerry now has a portfolio of BB10 smartphones including the Q10 and Z10 in the high-end segment, its cheapest smartphone, the Q5, is priced at Rs 24,990. While it continues to sell its older smartphones like the Curve 9220, which is priced at about Rs 10,000, it was launched more than a year ago. A more affordable BB7 smartphone that is priced below the Q5 could help BlackBerry attract current Curve users who want to upgrade to a new BlackBerry smartphone but cannot afford the Q5.
One of the BB7 smartphones could be the Bold 9720, which was leaked a few days ago. BlackBerry is also working on a phablet, called the A10, which too has been leaked in photos and videos over the last week.
