BlackBerry’s upcoming bezel-less premium smartphone, the BlackBerry Ghost, will pack a generous 4,000mAh battery, as per Evan Blass. The existence of BlackBerry Ghost was tipped first in February and is rumored to launch sometime in the summer. Futhermore, the premium smartphone is said to be released exclusively in India.
Battery capacity of this size is rare in premium flagship smartphones, in fact only in BlackBerry’s case its BlackBerry Motion had a similar 4,000mAh battery, as now expected in BlackBerry Ghost. For now, the current flagship offering, the BlackBerry KEY2, comes with a smaller 3,500mAh battery unit.
Previously, Evan had shared renders of the BlackBerry Ghost showcasing a tall display with slim bezels. The smartphone is likely to feature dual rear cameras with optical zoom, OIS, EIS, and low light enhancement feature.
It is said to be manufactured by Optiemus and not TCL. The Canadian handset maker had announced its partnership with Optiemus, a Delhi-based telecom enterprise last year, in which it licensed Optiemus to design, manufacture, sell, and promote BlackBerry-branded mobile phones in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. Other than these regions, BlackBerry has partnership with TCL to manufacture handsets for the company. So far TCL list of BlackBerry devices include the KeyOne, Motion, and DTEK60.
Watch: Asus Zenfone 5z
To recall, BlackBerry had stopped designing and manufacturing its own smartphones back in 2016.
