It’s Friday, and as we’re all getting ready to wrap up work before the weekend, here is quick read on all the happening stories from the tech world.

The big story comes with BlackBerry launching its Key2 smartphone. Samsung too launched two new mid-range smartphones in the US. A much revealing picture of the Google Pixel 3 XL surfaced online, while Facebook found out about a bug that turned private posts of 14 million users to public. On the flipside, WhatsApp seems to be working towards a feature that will help users avoid spam messages better. And finally, Amazon rather quietly slashed prices of its Echo smart speakers. BlackBerry KEY2 launched

BlackBerry launched the much-rumored KEY2 smartphone at an event in New York. The successor to last year’s Keyone retains the QWERTY keyboard, but brings about quite a few change’s internally.

Facebook affected 14 million users

In a long list of security-related nightmares, Facebook recently found a bug that made private posts of 14 million users public. In a Newsroom post, Facebook stated that the bug was active between May 18 and May 27, and that it changed posts to be public automatically for users, without their consent.

After fixing the issue, Facebook apologized for the mishap and plans on contacting all the affected users in the next few days.

Google Pixel 3 XL leaked

xdaforums recently posted two photos of what may be the next Google flagship smartphone. The device in the image was dubbed as a prototype for the Google Pixel 3 XL, and confirms that phone will be coming with a notch display at the front, and a huge chin at the bottom. The second leaked picture revealed a similar back panel as the Google Pixel 2 XL.

WhatsApp ‘Forwarded Message’

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will help users identify spam messages that have been forwarded from another group or from another member in the group chat. The feature essentially will tag a spam post as a “Forwarded Message”, so users would know better to avoid it.

Amazon Echo price cuts in India

Amazon announced a price cut on its Echo speakers in India today. The Amazon Echo Dot, is now priced at Rs 4,099 as opposed to its launch price of Rs 4,499. Similarly, the second generation of Amazon Echo speaker also got a price of Rs 1,000, bringing down its price to Rs 9,999. However, the high-end Echo Plus, and the recently launched Echo Spot, continue to be available at their launch prices of Rs 14,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively.

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2018), Galaxy J7 (2018) announced

Samsung quietly unveiled the mid-range Galaxy J3 (2018), and Galaxy J7 (2018) smartphones in the US today. The processor and RAM haven’t been disclosed yet, but the phones are said to be coming with a 5-inch and a 5.5-inch HD displays respectively. Samsung says that both the smartphones will be integrated with Knox’s security solutions. They will also come preloaded with the Samsung+ app that offers real-time customer care support.
