BlackBerry KEY2 LE clears FCC certification, could launch soon

Looks like BlackBerry is set to bring one more smartphone in the KEY2 series.

After launching the BlackBerry KEY2 in the international markets last month, the company was quick enough to bring the smartphone to the Indian shores. It is priced at Rs 42,990 and will be available to purchase starting July 31. Now, it looks like BlackBerry is working on a Lite version of the smartphone. A BlackBerry smartphone with model number BBE-100-5 has been certified by the FCC. Shared by leaker Roland Quandt, the smartphone will reportedly be called KEY2 LE. Now, there is no word on what LE means, whether it is a Lite version or a slightly more powerful variant, that remains to be seen. Meanwhile, the recently launched BlackBerry Key2 flaunts a 4.5-inch display with 3:2 aspect ratio, and resolution of 1620 1080 pixels. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM.

For shutterbugs, there s a dual-rear camera setup comprising of two 12-megapixel sensors. The dual cameras offer portrait mode, as well as 2x lossless zoom. Up front for selfies, and video calling, there s an 8-megapixel snapper. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. There s also BlackBerry s usual suite of apps like Hub, Priority Edge, DTEK security app and Calendar.

You also get a 3,500mAh battery to keep things ticking, along with support for QuickCharge 3.0 technology. Additionally, BlackBerry has also added a feature that monitors how you use the device, and recommends when you should plug it in.

Connectivity options include dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.
