Canadian smartphone developer BlackBerry and its India manufacturing and distribution partner Optiemus Infracom have launched the BlackBerry KEYone in India. It is priced at Rs 39,990. The smartphone, which was launched at MWC 2017 back in February, is the last phone to be designed and engineered in-house by BlackBerry. Subsequent devices from the brand will be developed by Chinese manufacturer TCL in a brand licensing agreement with the Canadian smartphone maker. The key feature of the BlackBerry KEYone is its physical QWERTY keyboard, which brings us back to the old days when the earlier BlackBerry devices featured the distinctive keypads. It is an Android 7.1.1-based smartphone, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The smartphone also has a 12-megapixel camera with large 1.55um pixels, and 8-megapixel front camera. Also Read - Amazon Fire TV Cube (2nd Gen) launched in India: It comes with Alexa integration
In order to accommodate the keyboard at the front, the phone has a smaller 4.5-inch 1080×1620 pixel screen with a 3:2 ratio. In addition to the physical keys being used as shortcuts apart from the typical typing, the keyboard is entirely capacitive and can be used for scrolling around the interface without actually touching the phone s screen. Of course, for selections and most cases of usage, the phone s screen is fully functional and usable as well. ALSO READ: BlackBerry KEYone Review
