To start with, the DTEK70 is considered as the last smartphone designed and developed by BlackBerry as the company has now exited the smartphone business. Though TCL has acquired rights to sell BlackBerry-branded phones. Last year, BlackBerry gave a sneak peek of the Mercury smartphone but kept details like the device name and specifications a mystery. All we know is that the device will feature BlackBerry s iconic QWERTY keypad, and would be Android-based. Talking about the design, the recent leaked photos of the smartphone have hinted that the fingerprint sensor will be integrated within the keyboard.
BlackBerry DTEK70 specifications
The DTEK70 is expected to feature a 4.5-inch curved screen, whereas some reports suggest a 4.5-inch display. At the heart, the DTEK70 is expected to run Qualcomm s Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor, however an earlier rumor suggested that the smartphone will come with Snapdragon 625 SoC instead. It is said to be paired with 3GB of RAM. In the photography department, it is expected to come with an 18-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It will be armed with a 3,400mAh battery. On the software front the smartphone will run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. To put the launch into perspective, the predecessor DTEK60 features a 5.5-inch quad HD scratch-resistant display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor which is paired with Adreno 530 and 4GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. On the camera front, the smartphone will sports a 21-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel front camera.
