BlackBerry has unveiled the Q5 smartphone running on BB10 at BlackBerry World. It flaunts the famed BlackBerry QWERTY keypad and targets the consumer on a budget. The phone actually looks quite similar to the rumored R10 which has been leaked multiple times in the last few months. The company has announced Q5 for the emerging markets and will be launching it this summer.
In terms of specifications, BlackBerry Q5 features a 3.1-inch touchscreen alongwith a classic BlackBerry keyboard with discrete keys including some shortcut keys as well. Other features in the phone include BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Time Shift mode, Story Maker, new BBM features like Screen Share, video calling which is a part of the BB10 operating system. It also features BlackBerry World app store which according to BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins now has over 120,000 apps.
The phone will be launched in four colors – Red, Black, White and Pink.
The BlackBerry Q5 smartphone will be first launched in selected markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia (including the Asia Pacific region), and Latin America, and will be made available in beginning in July.
