According to The Verge, Medium, which has raised 25 million-dollars, has become a kind of YouTube for text as it allows a user to post essays using an elegant, highly visual publishing platform, without making a commitment to start a blog or build an independent audience. However, there is no guarantee which story a user will land up on as the app allows a user to navigate primarily by swiping and there is no search feature, which makes it difficult to find particular stories or authors, the report added.
