Bose has announced two new audio products in India, the SoundSport Free truly wireless headphones and Micro Bluetooth speaker. With smartphones ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack, most audio gear makers have started pushing towards truly wireless headphones as the alternative.
The SoundSport Free is Bose’s first product in the truly wireless headphone space and it will allow users to listen to music or phone calls by simply connecting the two earbuds. Each earbud weighs just around 10 grams and measures 28mm x 30mm in dimensions. In order to make sound superior despite its tiny form factor, Bose has designed a new antennae system that enables strong and reliable connection between both the earbuds and the tablet or smartphone that they are paired to.
The Bose SoundSport Free truly wireless headphone has a an operating range of 9 meters and has a custom digital signal processor and a volume optimized EQ. The wireless earbud has a built-in lithium ion battery and can last up to 5 hours on a single charge.
“The SoundSport Free is the closest thing to what people have always wanted in a sport headphone. They’re a technology-packed solution that’s stripped down to just two rugged earbuds that feel great, stay connected, stay in, and sound amazing,” said Brian Maguire, director, Bose on-the-go products.
The SoundSport Free also comes with a proprietary StayHear+ sport tips that create a secure, firm fit within the ears. Bose says the earbuds are not only designed for intense workout, but also for listening to music on the go. Other features include IPX4 water and dust resistance and comes with a charging case that magnetically holds each earbud and provides two additional full charges for additional 10 hours of use.
The SoundSport Free can be tracked using the new “Find My Buds” feature on the Bose Connect App. The new truly wireless headphones are priced at Rs 18,990 and will be available starting February 7 from Amazon India in Black, Midnight Blue and Bright Orange color.
Alongside the launch of SoundSport Free, Bose also announced the SoundLink Micro Bluetooth speaker with IPX7 water and dust resistance and access to Siri or Google Assistant. The Micro is the smallest and most rugged portable speaker yet from the company. The Bluetooth speaker measures 95mm x 38mm in dimensions and weigh around 290 grams.
The Micro also comes with a custom transducer and miniature dual-passive radiators for audio playback. The Micro also includes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery packed with the audio system in a micro package. The Micro can last up to 6 hours on single charge and supports voice prompts for Bluetooth pairing.
The Bose Soundlink Micro is priced at Rs 8,990 and will be available from February 9 at select Bose retail stores and online from Bose India and Amazon India. The tiny speaker will come in Black, Midnight Blue and Bright Orange color options.
