Amazon, one of the largest e-commerce sites, has found itself in trouble after some users discovered that the website was selling doormats printed with Hindu gods and goddesses. The incident has created a massive outrage among neitizens on social media, who vented their anger on the e-commerce site by tweeting #BoycottAmazon. As the news spread, it soon started trending on Twitter.
While that wasn’t the only product, a retailer called Rock Bull, was selling doormats with Jesus Christ printed on it. The situation got even worse after people discovered Holy Quran and Islamic-themed doormats that we put on sale on Amazon. It’s not just the doormats with religious icons, but also the canvas scroll posters, personalized t-shirts, smartphone cases and mouse pads too.
After the incident triggered backlash among others, Amazon was quick enough to take down most of the products from the site, Scoopwhoop reports. Find below some of the tweets from users with screenshots of the product listing and their reaction about the whole fiasco.
