BSNL revises its entire broadband plan to compete with Airtel V-Fiber and Reliance JioGigaFiber

BSNL has been aggressively revising broadband plans to offer three times more data.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has announced an overhaul for its entire broadband tariff portfolio as an attempt to compete with Bharti Airtel and Reliance JioGigaFiber. As part of this effort, BSNL has introduced minor changes to its broadband plans priced at Rs 249 and Rs 2,295.

This is the second such overhaul being introduced by BSNL to challenge the upcoming Reliance JioGigaFiber service in the country. The state-owned telecom player had recently started offering three times more data as part of FUP with its broadband plans. Some broadband plans from the company have also received FUP limit extension while some plans offer faster download speeds. Here is a look at revised broadband plans from the company:

BSNL’s revised broadband plans under Rs 1,000

As part of the revision, BSNL is now offering a total of ten different plans with download speeds up to 10Mbps and FUP limit of 70GB under Rs 1,000. The broadband plan starts at Rs 249 which has been revised to provide 5Mbps download speed till 15GB usage. This plan had previously capped data speed at 5GB and now offers three times more data under FUP. BSNL BBG Combo ULD 499 plan, which is the next broadband plan in this list, offers 8Mbps data speed until 25GB. The BSNL BBG ULD 545 broadband plan has also received a revision to offer 30GB of data per month. All the three plans mentioned above offer a post FUP speed of 1Mbps.

BSNL has also revised its broadband plans, namely the BBG Combo ULD 675, BBG ULD 795, BBG Combo ULD 845, BBG Combo ULD 949 and BBG Combo ULD 999. The broadband with Rs 675 tariff offers users up to 35GB of data at a speed of 10Mbps while the Rs 795 plan has its FUP increased to 45GB. The Rs 845 plans have a FUP of 50GB while the Rs 949 and Rs 999 plan have FUP limit of 70GB per month. All these five plans have a basic data speed of 10Mbps and post FUP speed of 2Mbps.

BSNL’s revised broadband plans between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,500

BSNL now has a total of four broadband plans priced between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,500. The BSNL BBG Combo ULD 1199, BBG ULD 1275, BBG Combo ULD 1495 and BBG Speed Combo ULD 2295 are four plans offered by the company. With Rs 1,199 broadband plan, BSNL now offers a FUP of 80GB per month at a speed of 10Mbps. The BBG ULD 1275 broadband plan has a revised FUP limit of 120GB per month while the Rs 1,495 plan offers a FUP of 140GB every month. The Rs 2,295 broadband plan offers 24Mbps broadband connection with a FUP of 200GB per month.

Other benefits and its availability

BSNL says these revised broadband plans will be available on a pan-India basis. All the changes made to these plans will be effective from September 1, 2018 and they come with voice calling option.
