After disrupting the telecom sector, Reliance Jio is all set to take on the home broadband market too with Jio Fiber FTTH (Fiber-to-the-home) service. It is still in the testing phase, with no word in when it will be officially launched. But ahead of Jio Fiber launch, BSNL is all geared up to give it a tough competition. The state-run telecom operator has upgraded its Rs 4,499 FTTH plan and revised the FUP limit to 1,500GB. The plan comes with speed of 100Mbps, and after hitting the FUP limit of 1,500GB, the speed will be throttled to 2Mbps. The plan is currently only available in Chennai, and competing with broadband providers such as Spectra and ACT Fibernet. According to a report on TelecomTalk, the plan also offers an access to one email ID wit 5MB space, and one free static IP address. The report further states that the BSNL plan offers free voice calls within its network. BSNL FTTH subscribers who are on the lower plans ranging between Rs 999 and Rs 2,999 can upgrade to the Rs 4,999 plan by calling the BSNL helpline or visiting the nearby customer care center.
BSNL has also revised the FUP limit of other plans. The Rs 999 plan now offers 250GB of FUP at 60Mbps speed. The Rs 1,299 plan offers 400GB FUP limit, the Rs 1,699 plan offers 550GB FUP limit, whereas the Rs 1,999 plan offers 800GB FUP limit. Lastly, the Rs 2,999 plan offers 900GB FUP limit.
All the above plans offer upload and download speeds of up to 80Mbps, and they include unlimited local and STC voice calling benefits on any network. And to lure customers, BSNL is also offering free installation for a limited period.
