Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, the state-owned telecom operator, will turn 18 on October 1, 2018. In order to celebrate its formation day, BSNL has announced a slew of new plans for prepaid subscribers that offer data, voice and video calling features. Some of the special tariff vouchers plans being introduced as part of formation day offer is the STV 18, STV 1801, STV 1201 and STV 601.
The difference between all the four STV offers is the difference in their validity period. The STV 18 offers benefits for just two days while the higher priced STVs offer 18 percent additional talk time along with a certain amount of data benefit, reports Telecom Talk. The most interesting of the four plans is the STV 18, one of the cheapest plans yet, to offer unlimited voice and data benefits.
Interestingly, BSNL is not putting FUP limit for the period of two days on its STV 18 plan. This is a first for India’s telecom industry engaged in a bitter tariff war and BSNL is no stranger to it. The state-owned operator has been fiercely competing with private telecom players namely Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance Jio in the segment.
BSNL STV 18 for Prepaid Users: Benefits and Validity
As mentioned before, the new STV 18 from BSNL is the most interesting special tariff voucher introduced for the formation day. This particular tariff plan gives BSNL users unlimited voice calls to any network within India and there is no FUP limit as well.
The operator is also particularly mentioning unlimited video calls in this plan which could relate to unlimited data across video calling services such as WhatsApp, Skype, Google Duo among others. This particular plan comes with a validity of two days and is aimed at those looking for a relatively basic plan for just few days.
BSNL’s other STV offers: Get 18% additional talk time
In order to compete with Reliance Jio, both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Limited have introduced a number of combo packs that offer bundled talk time and data service. With STV 1801, STV 1201 and STV 601, BSNL is also introducing bundled plans to commemorate its 18th formation day. These new STV gives BSNL’s prepaid users 18 percent more talk time than the recharge value and data benefit previously associated with it.
However, BSNL has not clarified if it is offering any rate cutter with these STVs or not. With STV 1801, BSNL prepaid users need to recharge with Rs 1,801 and they will be entitled to talk time of Rs 2,125. The plan also comes bundled with 15GB of day. “These offers are the gift to our esteemed customers on behalf of BSNL Family,” said Anupam Srivastava, CMD, BSNL.
