After the launch of Reliance JioGigaFiber and unlimited FUP plans from Airtel, BSNL seems to be taking some precautionary measures by offering faster download speeds and higher FUP of the Rs 699 plan. The Rs 699 plan is only available in the Chennai circle and hence the changes will only be implemented there. The other circles have plans from BSNL that cost Rs 695, Rs 799, and so on. The plan that costs Rs 699 is known as the BBG Combo ULD 699 broadband plan that will now offer faster speeds and double the FUP limit. The new download speed of the plan has been revised to 20Mbps and an FUP limit of 700GB. This plan is part of the unlimited broadband plan from BSNL and it provides 2Mbps speed after the completion of the FUP limit. Earlier the download speed of this plan was 10 Mbps. Users of this plan have a fixed line voice calling service that comes bundled with this broadband plan. In fact, all BSNL broadband plans come bundles with the fixed like calling service that provides the users with a wire connected telephone. With the Rs 699 plan, the voice calling service provides unlimited calls to any network in India.

These changes from the company suggests that the government broadband provider is contending hard with the private broadband players. With companies like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel tightening the grip with unlimited plans and faster download speeds, BSNL has had to revise its plans quite often.
