State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has announced another revised tariff plan that rivals Reliance Jio‘s offering. BSNL, though it doesn’t have a 4G license, has been at the forefront when it comes to challenging Reliance Jio’s data-centric tariff plans. The company has now announced that it is increasing the data benefit on its unlimited combo prepaid plans to 2GB from the earlier 1GB and 1.5GB data benefit. The change will now reflect on company’s prepaid combo plans priced at Rs 186, Rs 429, Rs 485, Rs 666 and Rs 999, respectively. All of these plans previously offered either 1GB or 1.5GB data benefit on a daily basis and all these five different tariff plans will offer 2GB data per day for the entire validity period. BSNL is only changing the data benefits while all other benefits will remain the same. They all offer unlimited voice call benefits without any daily or weekly FUP limit. With Rs 186 and Rs 999 tariff plan, BSNL offers truly unlimited data by restricting speed to 40kbps after FUP limit, which is inline with what Reliance Jio or Bharti Airtel offer.
To recall, BSNL’s Rs 186 prepaid combo plan comes with a validity of 28 days while the Rs 429 plan has a longer validity of 81 days. The Rs 485 tariff plan has a validity of 90 days. With BSNL Sixer Rs 666 plan, customers get a validity of 129 days and the Rs 999 prepaid combo plan comes with a validity of 180 days from the date of recharge.
TelecomTalk reports that BSNL has made this revision on a promotional basis of 60 days. After the expiry of 60 days starting from June 18, 2018, the tariff revision will expire. The move seems to be inspired by Reliance Jio’s Double Dhamaka offer launched early this week that offered additional 1.5GB data per day to its customers until June 30, 2018.

Reliance Jio still holds an upper hand here by offering 3GB additional data with Rs 149 plan while BSNL offers only 2GB data with Rs 186 plan. It is also important to note that Jio offers 4G data speeds while BSNL users will have access to 3G speeds only. If you are a BSNL user then you can avail the benefits starting June 18, 2018 with a recharge from BSNL’s website or any other recharge portal.
