Adding to its existing line of combo prepaid plans, state-owned BSNL has rolled out a new Special Tariff Voucher (STV) of Rs 118, which offers 1GB data and unlimited voice calls for a period of 28 days. However, the offer is valid only in Tamil Nadu and Chennai circles of BSNL. The plan will be effective starting April 1, 2018. The STV 118 basically comes with unlimited voice calls even on roaming. BSNL has not revealed if there is any FUP limit per day for the voice calls, so it’ safe to assume that the voice calling is unlimited like the other BSNL prepaid plans. Additionally, the plan also offers 1GB data for 28 days, and post the allotted benefit, users will be charged at standard rates. Lastly, users will also get free Personalized Ring Back Tone with this new voucher. Right after the activation of this STV, the default BSNL Signature tune will be activated on free of cost. That said, customers can also change the tune as per their desired one, but there will be additional charges for that, TelecomTalk reports. The BSNL plan clearly takes on Reliance Jio’s Rs 98 prepaid tariff plan, which was launched a couple of months ago. The Jio plan offers unlimited voice calls even on roaming, 2GB data, as well as 300 SMS. In addition to that, Airtel is also offering a similar plan of Rs 93 for select.
There is also a recently launched plan by Idea Cellular, which can be a direct competitor to the new BSNL plan. Priced at Rs 109, the Idea plan offers unlimited voice calls (roaming calls too), 100 SMS per day and 1GB data for 28 days in Himachal Pradesh circle and for 14 days in other circles.
