State-owned operator BSNL is also competing in the tariff war by introducing new plans for its subscribers. In a Twitter conversation, BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava revealed the company’s plan for a new Rs 399 plan for users. Without revealing many details, Shrivastava only indicated that the plan will be rolled out soon.
A user asked the operator when BSNL will match postpaid offerings by the likes of Airtel and Idea Cellular where they are offering unlimited voice calls. To this, Shrivastava responded saying, “We are soon launching a plan in postpaid with unlimited calling @ Rs. 399.”

There are no further details as to whether or not the plan will include other benefits such as data and SMS. It is also worth noting that the operator primarily offers 3G services and the only area where it offers 4G services is Kerala. BSNL already offers an unlimited call plan which is priced at Rs 999 and comes with 1GB per day data quota for a validity of 181 days.
If one looks at the competition, Airtel offers a Rs 399 plan where it offers users 20GB of bundled 3G/4G data to postpaid subscribers. This plan was recently revised to offer more data as earlier Airtel offered only 10GB of data. Idea Cellular, on the other hand, has a Rs 389 plan with the same data benefit of 20GB, up from its previous offering of 10GB. Vodafone also offers 20GB of data with the same Rs 399 plan.
Meanwhile, Reliance Jio has a slightly expensive Rs 409 plan where it offers 20GB of bundled data. While the plan is priced higher than other operators, Jio offers unlimited voice calls, without any FUP. The benefits also include access to its suit of apps. Whereas Airtel, Vodafone and Idea allow users to rollover their unused data to the next billing cycle.
Recently, BSNL rolled out two new prepaid plans, priced at Rs 99 and Rs 319. These plans offer unlimited calls and free roaming. The Rs 99 plan is valid for 26 days, while the Rs 319 plan comes with a validity of 90 days.
