Under its ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative, Airtel has launched its second smartphone in partnership with Celkon. Airtel’s through this initiative, aims to offer 4G smartphones at an effectively lower price with bundled plans. The Celkon Smart 4G smartphone is actually priced at Rs 3,500, but can be purchased at its ‘effective’ price of Rs 1,349. It is available for purchase at mobile stores across India. In order to purchase the Celkon Smart 4G, you need to first make a down payment of Rs 2,849. You will then have to make 36 continuous recharges of Rs 169 on your Airtel number. Under Airtel’s Rs 169 plan, you get unlimited calling and 0.5GB of data daily with validity of 28 days. After a period of 18 months of using the smartphone, you will get a refund of Rs 500. On completion of 36 months, your refund amount will increase to Rs 1,000 making your total to Rs 1,500. With the refund collected, you have now paid the ‘effective’ price of Rs 1,349 for the Celkon Smart 4G.
Other than the Rs 169 Airtel plan, you can also choose to recharge any other plan. However, for the first 18 months your total recharge should amount to Rs 3,000, and another Rs 3,000 for the next 18 months. Only after the total recharge of Rs 6,000 is done within 36 months, will you be eligible for the refund of Rs 1,500. The Celkon Smart 4G smartphone features a 4-inch display, and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone offers 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. For photography, the Celkon Smart 4G sports a 3.2-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front camera. Keeping the smartphone ticking is a 1,500mAh battery. On the software front, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. Its connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and FM Radio. The smartphone is also pre-loaded with apps like My Airtel, Airtel TV and Wynk Music.
