Harman has announced the new JBL Pulse 3 and Flip 4 wireless speakers at CES 2017. The new speakers are part of established existing ranges from JBL, and are improved versions of the popular Pulse 2 and Flip 3 speakers respectively. The JBL Pulse 3 and Flip 4 are IPX7 water resistant, and rely on Bluetooth as the primary mode of audio transmission. The JBL Pulse 3 is the successor to the Pulse 2, and features a slightly different design with the exclusion of the grille on the outer side of the speaker. The LED lights on the outside can be set to display different colors and patterns that add a bit of character to the speaker. With JBL Connect+ App, users can customize the lightshow experience. The speaker also boasts of 360-degree sound capability as well as a claimed 12-hour battery life.
Also launched is the JBL Flip 4, which features a rugged and water resistant design. Although it doesn t feature the LED light show of the Pulse 3, it does have enough in it to let you take it wherever you go and use it in rough outdoor conditions such as at the beach, by the swimming pool or while camping. The Flip 4 also features a claimed 12-hour battery life thanks to a 3,000mAh battery, along with voice-assistant integration to use Siri or Google Now with a paired smartphone.
The JBL Pulse has been announced at a price of $200 (Rs 13,600 approximately), while the JBL Flip 4 will retail at $100 (Rs 6,800 approximately). Right now, there is no word on specific pricing and availability for India. Harman International Industries, the parent company that runs the JBL brand, is currently in the process of a mega $8 billion acquisition by Samsung, which is expected to be completed this year.
