Mumbai-based television manufacturer CloudWalker has launched its latest range of TVs, called Cloud TV X2. Priced from Rs 14,990 onwards, the Cloud TV X2 range is available in three sizes: 32-inch, 50-inch and 55-inch. The TV touts itself as being a ‘4K ready’ Full-HD / HD-ready TV, and is also a smart TV running on an Android Nougat-based custom user interface. To be clear, the ‘4K ready’ marketing pitch simply means that the TV will be able to play 4K content on a screen that has a lower resolution. This means that the TV will downscale the content to fit onto a full-HD or 720p screen. Down-scaling full-HD content onto a 720p screen is easy enough as most 720p TVs have the capability built into the video player on the TV, but affordable TVs usually don’t come with players that can play 4K content. The CloudWalker range therefore offers a player built into the TV that allows playback of 4K content on the lower-resolution screen. The advantage of this is that the TV can play high-resolution content, and it will look very sharp because of the native quality in the video itself. A practical example of this – you’ll be able to record 4K video on your smartphone and play it back on the CloudWalker TV despite its 720p or Full-HD resolution. Therefore, you wouldn’t need to shell out for an expensive 4K TV, and can have a TV that plays 4K video at just Rs 14,990.

Apart from this, the Cloud TV X2 range also comes with 20W speakers. The range is set to go on sale on June 30 on Amazon India.
