The Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) has struck yet again and this time the victim is CNN. SEA hacked into and momentarily gained access to CNN s Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as its security clearance blog, NBC News reports. Also Read - Karnataka Police website hacked
SEA posted messages like, Obama Bin Laden the lord of terror is brewing lies that the Syrian state controls Al Qaeda, on CNN s Facebook and Twitter accounts. It also took control of the company s security clearance blog and posted fake posts with headlines like, US declares state of national emergency, State department reportedly out of reach. The report adds that, CNN was able to gain access to its accounts in a few minutes post the breach.
SEA had a busy 2013, hacking major publications and social media news websites like the Huffington Post, NY Times, BBC, Thomson Reuters, Telegraph, Associate Press, FT, The Onion among others and also gained access to user information on Twitter, Truecaller and Viber. It has started the year 2014 in the same vein hacking into Skype s Facebook and Twitter accounts and the Microsoft News Twitter account earlier this month.
