After launching Coolpad Cool Play 6 in its home market back in May, the Chinese company is finally bringing the smartphone to India. And for the India launch, Coolpad has been teasing the smartphone lately, and the latest of the lot is an event that it created, which began on August 6, and ends on August 20. That pretty much hints at a launch on the latter date. When launched in China, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 was released in Gold and Black color variants. It was priced at 1,499 Yuan (Rs 14,500 approximately). With design similar to its predecessor s, the Cool Play 6 sports a metal unibody. Up front, the smartphone is covered with 2.5D glass with capacitive buttons at the bottom, and at the rear sits a vertically placed dual-camera, accompanied with LED flash. Right below the camera is the fingerprint scanner. The power button and the volume rockers are placed on the right-hand side. While that is the design bit, on the specifications end, the Cool Play 6 features a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) in-cell display. At its heart is an octa-core Snapdragon 653 processor, paired with Adreno 510 GPU and 6GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable using a microSD card. For photography, the smartphone sports a pair of 13-megapixel dual-camera at the rear, with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), dual-tone LED flash. Up front, the sits an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. Fuelling the smartphone is a 4,060mAh battery, which the company claims can offer up to 252 hours on standby, 9 hours of internet browsing, 8 hours of video watching and 6 hours of gaming one charge. The smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
At that estimated price tag, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 compete with the Honor 6X, and Lenovo K8 Note. Xiaomi s Mi 5X may also soon join the race of affordable smartphones with dual-camera, and it is estimated to be priced between Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000.
