Chinese smartphone manufacturer Coolpad is hosting an event later today, where it has teased the launch of a selfie-centric smartphone. The launch event kicks off in Delhi at 12:00PM IST. The company hasn’t revealed much about its launch plans, except that it has invited the media to witness a ‘mega selfie’. The Coolpad Sky 3 is the successor to the Coolpad Sky, which was launched last year. The high spots of the Coolpad Sky 3 is its 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture and 83 degree wide-angle lens. At the back, there is another 8-megapixel snapper with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. Both cameras come with features like HDR, GIF support and a professional shooting mode. Coolpad Sky 3 specifications
The Coolpad Sky 3 smartphone features a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by a 1GHz MediaTek MT67355P 64-bit quad-core chipset, along with Mali T720 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The Sky 3 is equipped with 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. The Sky 3 will be fuelled by a 2,500mAh battery. On the connectivity front, it will feature options like 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, A-GPS, and Bluetooth 4.0. The device will run on Android Marshmallow 6.0 out-of-the-box.
During the international launch, Coolpad had unveiled the Sky 3 with a price tag of 3,999,000 VND, which is approximately Rs 12,000. If the company does launch the Sky 3 today and at this price range, the smartphone will be placed in a segment dominated by the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, LeEco Le 2, and the Lenovo ZUK Z1 to name a few.
