Coolpad today announced that it is planning to launch its patented bezel-less smartphone in India later this year. The Chinese smartphone maker last week announced its plans to enter the Indian market.
Coolpad might be an unknown name in India, but it was once the largest smartphone brand in China. The company claims that the “new invention” would redefine user experience for consumers and will set it apart from the other smartphones in the market.
The patent literature says that the technology can render the visual effect of a smartphone’s screen to appear as if it’s completely frameless, thanks to a manufacturing process that helps it to achieve a larger screen proposition.
This entire concept of frameless or bezel-less smartphones seems to be similar to what we have heard from Oppo, which is boasting a somewhat similar technology in the upcoming R7. The touchscreen will be built in such a way that the bezel area seems to be a part of the display. The bezel-less phone from Coolpad will be initially released in India along with a bunch of other countries.
