YU has finally started rolling out the Cyanogen OS 12.1 update for YU Yureka and YU Yureka Plus, which the company had promised back in June. The update is being rolled out in phases and will reach all users over the next two weeks. Based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, the update brings a host of new features, bug-fixes and under-the -hood performance improvements. Let s take a look at four new features introduced with the update. LiveDisplay: This new features makes your smartphone screen smarter by intelligently adjusting it based on environmental conditions. With LiveDisplay, the screen offers better readability in sunlight by increasing the contrast and color saturation levels. During the night, the screen stimulates effect of blue light to ensure it does not disrupt your sleep. According to YU, the LiveDisplay feature doesn t hurt hardware acceleration, thus enhancing the battery life and performance of the smartphone. Calendar integration within emails: The new and improved calendar integration is powered by Boxer, which YU claims to offer a seamless experience between calendars and accounts. With an ability to sync from multiple sources, including exchange and Gmail, all your events and meetings will appear in one calendar. The new feature also gives you the ability to schedule appointments right the email app. That s not all; in just one tap, you can share your availability with send availability option.
Redesigned Launcher: The Cyanogen OS 12.1 update also comes with a new, clutter free design. It also includes redesigned UI for app drawer and folders to streamline the user experience.
Updated UI for Audio FX: The user interface of Audio FX app is now updated with a clean, straightforward design. It also includes 13 equalizer presets and support for 24-bit high-res lossless audio.
The Cyanogen OS 12.1 update is also said to bring thermal control and superior performance to the Yureka and Yureka Plus smartphones. Next in line to receive the update is YU Yuphoria. However, the company didn t mention any timeline for the same.
The YU Yureka, which was launched in December last year is priced at Rs 8,999, whereas the Yureka Plus, which was launched in July this year is priced at Rs 9,999. Recently, the Yureka Plus also got a price cut, which brings down its cost to Rs 8,999.
