For those of you who are waiting for the Android Lollipop update on your Cyanogen-powered handset, there is some good news. Cyanogen has announced that it will be rolling out the Cyanogen OS 12 — the update which is based on the latest Android Lollipop — to OnePlus One, Yu Yureka, and Alcatel Hero 2+ in the next few weeks.
The software company noted the development it has made and the work which is pending before it can start rolling out the update to the aforementioned smartphones. For the OnePlus One, the company says that it is packaging final bootloader firmware and addressing QA/QE results. It is worth pointing out that OnePlus One handsets in India won t be receiving this update. They will instead be getting the OxygenOS from the Chinese phone company in coming weeks.
As for the Yureka, Cyanogen says that the company is addressing the same QA/QE results and notes that it has begun testing it with select users in India. Yu announced recently that the Yureka smartphone will be getting the Lollipop update soon. It is expected to release the update on March 26.
The company also noted the progress it has made for the Alcatel Hero 2+. Cyanogen says that it is working with MediaTek and plans to seed out the update in May/June timeframe. Cyanogen also noted that it is evaluating the changes in the Android 5.1 and will release the new features in the future OTA update after the Lollipop update.
