Delhi Police to use WhatsApp to connect cops with public: Report

Delhi Police has kicked off a pilot project wherein you can reach a police officer and place a complaint over WhatsApp. The police have started creating chat groups on WhatsApp for all the 2,083 beats

The cops patrolling a beat will be provided smartphones so they can access the app, while the head of a particular beat will be made administrator of that particular WhatsApp group. The group will be open to access for the SHO, ACP, DCP and Joint CP (range). Also Read - WhatsApp multi-device mode could be released soon

As for the public, local RWA representatives and other groups will get access to their local police WhatsApp group. Anyone who is a part of the group can register a complaint and all complaints will be handled by officers personally.
