The Dell XPS 13 is the premier device in the productivity range, and boasts of a slimmer, lighter and more portable design. The laptop features a 13.3-inch screen which is HDR-capable if you buy the UHD variant, and features an 8th generation Intel Core processor. The variants in India have been launched with 512GB SSD drives for storage, up to 16GB of RAM, GORE thermal insulation for better heat dissipation and the Dell Cinema experience built into the device.
Elaborating a bit on Dell Cinema, this is the latest software-based experience built into the Dell XPS 13. This takes advantage of the Infinity View bezel-less display to enhance the viewing experience when watching media content on the laptop. It optimizes content for streaming to reduce buffering and improve the streaming experience, along with boosting colors and sound.
The new Dell XPS 13 also comes with an improved design, featuring a combination of metal and fiberglass (for the white variant) or carbon fiber (for the black variant). Interestingly, Dell launched the previous generation of the XPS 13 less than two months ago, making this upgrade a surprising one that could upset buyers that have invested in the previous generation device. The new XPS 13 comes just about a month after its global launch at CES 2018, and will compete directly on price and positioning with the recently launched Lenovo Yoga 920. The Lenovo laptop was launched last month in India, and is priced at Rs 1,49,999 for the Vibes variant, which comes with a glass top panel, 4K screen and 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor.
